Baby Sensory Stimulation Class

Join us for an exciting session intended for parents who want to learn developmentally stimulating play techniques to use during playtime with their infants. This session is intended for infants ages approximately 6 weeks to 6 months (or rolling over). All babies are welcome as are their parents or carers. This session may be especially informative for parents of infants identified with a developmental disability (such as Downs Syndrome), or who have a general motor delay(ex: premature babies, babies with low tone).

Parents & carers will participate in an interactive class led by Dima OT Reg. (ONT) who is one of our Paediatric Occupational Therapist here at The New Mummy Company. You will learn how to engage your baby in play based activities to help develop their fine motor skills, and get the most benefit out of their playtime.

The group will run for 90 minutes. Dima will start with an introduction to background knowledge on fine and gross motor development in the first year of life. We will then engage the babies in some sensory stimulation techniques to prepare them for motor play activities. Dima will then demonstrate developmentally appropriate activities and exercises, and teach parents the proper moving and handling techniques. The final 30 minutes will be for Q & A.

Parents are required to bring a sheet, a couple of rattle toys and a feeding pillow. If you do not have a feeding pillow please bring a hand towel.
